I hope you are all safe and well
As you may be aware last month, days prior to the lockdown, OMC set up a COVID 19 sub committee consisting of Roger Bays (OMC Chair), Derek Brown (OMC Vice Chair & Treasurer), Bernice Russell (Secretary), Keith Russell (OMC Health and Safety Advisor) and Paul Butler (Ride out Co-ordinator). We further met via virtual meeting on 20th April and although there is little further to report as the Government has continued the lockdown for a further three weeks taking us to Thursday 7th May, we are hopeful that there may be some lifting of restrictions on this date in line with actions by other Countries who have also been subject to lockdowns. Although we are not expecting licensed premises to re-open any time soon, we are hopeful that we may be in a position to organise ride outs involving social distancing on meeting and stops if allowed. Needless to say this is conjecture at this time but the next meeting of the sub committee will be on Monday 11th May to discuss the latest Government instructions, so fingers crossed.
Some good news for a change in that although the Easter Egg run planned for Monday 13th April was cancelled, Easter Eggs were supplied to staff at Agate House, Ampthill, Lomack House, Kempston and Lovell Homes, Oakley whereby the Easter Eggs were distributed by staff members to their residents on behalf of OMC. Many thanks to OMC member Karen Owen and her company Myfresh at Chicksands for the donation of over £200 worth of Easter chocolate treats. Also many thanks to OMC member Terry Harris and his family together with the staff of Anglian Fasteners whose donation of Easter Eggs were taken to Lomack House, Kempston. Also they delivered 26 Eggs to the staff at Bedford hospital Elizabeth Ward (COVID-19 hot ward).
Stay safe everyone, we will beat this virus and I’m sure we will all meet up again in the near future
