Oakley Motorcycle Club has, since it’s inception in January 2005 strongly supported many charities over these years.
The main charities have been Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice at Luton, now re-named Keech Hospice Care for Adults and Children, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance which covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
More recently we have also chosen charities close to the hearts of some of our members, these being Brains Trust and Happy Days.
However, it was felt that by supporting a number of charities at the same time, we were spreading ourselves and the money far too thinly. Therefore we have decided that for the next twelve months, Oakley Motorcycle Club will support just a single charity. This will take us to March 2012. The agreed charity being the East Anglian Air Ambulance. This means that at all our events and functions we will be championing their cause.
There are hundreds of local, national and international charities, all of whom are very worthwhile causes with many dear to the hearts of OMC members.
Although as a Club, we are only supporting a single charity, we will still encourage and assist should any OMC member wish to support another charity with a sponsored event.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance does not receive a single penny from the Government and is completely run by donations and other fund raising. Their motto being:
“We need you today. You may need us tomorrow”
